Yes! It’s true, “ free”. Now, it might not be the free that you’re thinking, or wanting, but then again, when is it ever. In this case, it’s the cruise rate itself that’s free. Not included are the port charges and taxes, and whatever else you want to spend on the ship.
How does the old adage go? If it’s too good to be true …….. it more than likely is or “Run for the hills!” So yes, there is a catch (need 8 cabins) but one guest does go “free”. Not so bad of a deal.
Free berth-Maritime lingo for a free (bed) in a cabin. Standard Comp. Policy-Carnival lingo.
For every eight cabins one guest goes free. In other words, the value of one free cruise berth (one bed) will be earned for each 15 full paying guests that sail. So the 16th full paying guest will travel free or as a comp.(complimentary).
All comps must pay processing charges, government taxes, fees, and air add-ons for groups that have purchased air from CCL. There is no limit to the number of comps given per group but comps are given in the category earned. Third and fourth guests in a cabin do not count towards frees earned. In other words, if you have 7 ocean view cabins at a base rate of $500 per person and 3 balcony cabins at a base rate of $800 per person, the “free” or credit of $500 will be disbursed to whom ever or whatever you’d like.
In addition, selected group sailing dates offer amenities. Carnival has a great amenities program that you can customize for your group at no extra charge. You can choose items such as cocktail party-a 1hr. open bar for the group, champagne and chocolates, on board credits, etc. Instead of the standard comp. policy, you can also select accelerated comps such as 1 free for 12, for 10, or even for 8 full fare guests depending on the number of points offered.
